I don’t have a partner, can I come on my own?
Of course you can all our classes operate a partner rotation, mixing couples and singles alike. This avoids only being able to dance with one partner and also breaks the pressure on any couple struggling with a new figure. Peer help is one of the best ways of learning as they know exactly what you are going through and have just found how to do it themselves. Teachers and helpers are also in the classes to iron out teething problems.
I've got two left feet and so I can't dance!?
Most people come equipped with the same problem. It's rather like driving a car or a computer, until someone takes the time to show you how to do it properly, you struggle. Walking used to be a problem to most folks, but, like all the generations before you managed it and now do it all day long without thought.
Will I make a fool of myself, Will people laugh at me?
Only if you want to, or if you look like the teachers. We hope that when you join a class that there should be lots of laughter. People enjoying themselves do tend to laugh and smile, but, teachers are excluded and you may laugh at them as much as you like.
Do I have to dress up to dance?
You can if you like, we prefer you to wear clothes, nude dancing has yet to be included. Smart casual clothes that are comfortable to wear and shoes that have a hard sole are good. Trainer types or soft rubber soles will make it very hard work and your leg muscles will definitely complain the next day.
Will there be other blokes there or will I be the only one?
Certainly there will be other blokes there so you will have to take your turn with the ladies like the rest of us. Don't think because you're new gives you any advantages with the girls. Seriously, not to worry, usually enough ladies for everyone.
Dancing is for OLD people, am I too young?
You will be surprised at how many young people already dance and how fit they have become. Dancing at the Court is a great way to meet people of all ages from mid teens to mid 70's, they all share they same young at heart attitude. So the question is, Are you YOUNG enough and want to get FIT enough?
